Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice

Also adding as of 2017, Chemical Cleaning to its services. Since humble beginnings on the south side of Edmonton the company has grown and now has three locations in Western Canada. Solvent Buddy provides a complete range of services into light industrial, aviation, forestry, mining, oil and gas. With that being said Solvent Buddy has a strong foundation in Safety, Integrity and Dependability.


Based out of Edmonton, Solvent Buddy is currently seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice with Truck and Transport, Transport-Trailer mechanic interest and or experience.  Experience working in Industrial Services is an asset.



  • Works under limited supervision, must have and demonstrate sound judgement;
  • Performs inspections and verifications of all apprentice work;
  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services for trucks, trailers, vac. units, chemical trailers with pumps;
  • Performs inspection, diagnosis and completes repairs of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment;
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs;
  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports;
  • Completes required paperwork including work orders;
  • Assists senior Mechanics in the completion of project work;
  • Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs);
  • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns;
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles;
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Enrollment in Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprenticeship program;
  • Knowledge of vac. units including pumps and blowers is an asset;
  • Works under limited supervision;
  • Desire to learn and be cross trained on all equipment;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities;
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities – High level of personal integrity;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Must self-directed and be able to work with little supervision;
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clean 5 year driver’s abstract;
  • Must pass a Pre-Employment Alcohol and Drug test.
