Heavy Duty Mechanic or 3rd/4th year HET Apprentice with Truck and Transport

Based out of Edmonton, Solvent Buddy is currently seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic or 3rd/4th year HET Apprentice with Truck and Transport, Transport-Trailer mechanic experience. Experience working in Industrial Services is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Health and Safety as the number one goal by following policies, processes;
  • Responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of equipment;
  • Provides hands on teamwork and leadership for to the shop team;
  • Work with policies, procedures and safe work practices;
  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services for vocational trucks and trailers;
  • Performs maintenance and repairs of mounted equipment.
  • Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment;
  • Completes required paperwork including work orders;
  • Assists senior Mechanics in the completion of project work;
  • Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs);
  • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns;
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles;
  • Mentors other team members such as Journeymen, Apprentices, and Shop Labour;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled or has been enrolled in Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprenticeship program or has a Journeyman H.E.T. Ticket;
  • Safety inspection certificate will be an asset;
  • Class 1 or 3 driver’s license would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of vac. units including pumps and blowers is an asset;
  • Works under limited supervision;
  • Desire to learn and be cross trained on all equipment;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities;
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Must self-directed;
  • Must pass a Pre-Employment Alcohol and Drug test.
